Marcia, Marcia Marcia! ActionAIDS Plans Brady Brunch-themed Fundraiser, Sept. 29

Break out your leisure suits and mark your calendars for “The Brady Brunch,” a 1970s-themed party to raise funds for ActionAIDS on Sunday, September 29.

The organization will turn the Sheet Metal Workers’ union hall on Columbus Avenue into the fictional Filmore Junior High gymnasium, where bell bottoms, bottomless Bloody Marys and pork chops & applesauce will take center stage from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Local drag luminaries will emcee the day of misadventures and provide the ongoing entertainment. Tickets, which include a full brunch buffet and cocktails, are now on sale for $50 here.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Brady character or in retro attire, although costumes are not required. Activities include a lookalike contest and a cheer competition, so start practicing your “F-f-fil, l-l-lmo, o-o-ore, Fillmore Junior High!” cheer, urges ActionAIDS executive director Kevin Burns.

“We’re dealing with serious issues every day, but we can have fun at the same time,” said Burns. “We’re really excited to work with the community to put together this fun-filled afternoon and raise money for the life-saving work we do every day. Laughter is one of the best medicines!”

Sheet Metal Workers Local 19 is at 1301 S. Columbus Boulevard. Parking is included. Order tickets in advance here or call (215) 981-0088. Tickets will also be sold at the door. “The Brady Brunch” is open only to guests 21 years or older.
