If you haven’t been to Village Whiskey in Center City, go there now! If not for the cozy, classic pub atmosphere, then for their Burger of the Month. Starting in October, Village Whiskey will debut a specialty burger each month, and a beer or cocktail pairing as well. Chef de cuisine Dave Conn challenged each of his sous chefs to develop a new burger concept, and now you’ll get the chance to taste them all.
October
Village Whiskey Tailgate Burger
Herb-roasted pork, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe, cherry pepper aioli
Paired with Old Bay fries and a PBR Pounder
Based on the South Philly original Pulled Pork Italiano, this burger packs flavor into every bite, and screams October in Philly. It might just make you want to stroll the Italian Market or head to an Eagles game.
November
Village Whiskey Thanksgiving Burger
Brussels sprouts, crispy bacon slaw, red onion-cranberry jam, herb aioli, Havarti cheese, stuffing bun
Paired with warm spiked apple cider
The only thing missing from this burger is the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Classic side dishes of cranberries and brussels sprouts have been reinvented as toppings, and it’s all piled on an impressive stuffing bun—and yes when you bite into the bun it tastes just like stuffing.
December
Village Whiskey Patty Melt
Caramelized onions, swiss cheese, butter toasted rye
Paired with a seasonal draft beer
For the chilly month of December, Village Whiskey is taking the best flavors from two classic dishes (French onion soup and a patty melt) and transforming them into one killer burger. The simple perfection of caramelized onions and swiss cheese with buttery rye proves that sometimes, less really is more.
You can find Village Whiskey in Center City Philadelphia at 118 S 20th Street, (215) 665-1088. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
