If you’ve been counting down the days until Camden, New Jersey’s first legal distillery since Prohibition, Cooper River Distillers, made its official debut—you’re in luck; the wait is over! After many delays and set backs, the small-batch distillery backed by Kentucky native James Yoakum has finally received the green-light to legally get the operation underway.
First up on the production line will be Petty’s Island Rum. Named after a tiny “island” located on the Delaware River between Camden and Philadelphia, this rum is hand-distilled in a traditional copper pot for a distinct, full flavor. Cooper River plans to continue crafting one-of-a-kind spirits, including a variety of rums, bourbons, rye whiskeys, and brandies.
