Springtime Tea 101 & Pairing Class Coming to Metropolitan Bakery’s Rittenhouse Cafe (April 28)

Save the date for April 28, from 6–7:30 p.m., as tea consultant Alexis Siemons of Teaspoons and Petals presents a springtime tea and baked goods pairing class at Metropolitan Bakery’s Cafe, located at 262 South 19th Street in Rittenhouse Square. This unique class will take a closer look at four springtime teas and a a sweet or savory baked good pairing. The baked goods will, of course, be prepared by the bakery.

Alexis says, “There is an art to pairing tea that connects with the spirit of steeping well beyond the aroma of the brewed tea and the first sip. The steeped tea can elevate the flavor of what’s on your plate and even change the flavor of the tea in a deliciously exciting way. “

She continues, “You may be surprised by somersaulting taste buds. A rich goat cheese paired with a grassy, astringent sencha green tea brings out the subtly sweeter notes lingering with the sip. And suddenly the fresh, grassiness of the goat cheese seems to be shining brighter than ever. Beyond the dairy delights, I jump at the chance to pair savory and sweet baked goods with tea that can take the shape of a morning welcome, an afternoon spirit lifter or a new take on happy hour.”

Throughout the class, guests will be treated to sips of each tea, nibbles of each baked good and Tea 101 tips and techniques. Tickets are $30 per person and also include a parting gift for each attendee. To reserve tickets, guests will need to call (877) 41-BREAD between 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
