Brandywine Food & Wine Fest Served Up Wine and Food Samplings Galore

This past weekend was the perfect time to hold a food and wine fest outdoors, and if you were at the Brandywine Food and Wine Festival, you can surely agree with this statement. The sun was shining, a nice breeze was blowing and the wine and food samplings were ready to go.

PA Eats’s Editor-in-Chief, Amy Strauss, and I were ready to experience all that the Brandywine Food and Wine Festival had in store for us. Presented by the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail, the Festival offered samplings from nine wineries, numerous food trucks and individual food vendors, as well as live music all day long.

The wineries that participated in the day’s events included BVWT members Black Walnut Winery, Penns Woods Winery, Borderland Vineyard, Kreutz Creek Vineyards, Paradocx Vineyard and Patone Cellars and local neighbors Grace Winery, Stone Barn Cellars Winery and Ten Gallon Hat Winery.

Food vendors were on-site too, helping to satiate the hunger of festival attendees. From innovative bites from Bangles Indian Cuisine and farm-to-table noshables from Amani’s BYOB to melt-in-your-mouth pork from Jimmy’s BBQ, wood-fired pies from Forno Inferno, and so many more, this festival showcased some of the best culinary talent in the region. Let’s not forget to mention those who specialized in sweet treats, including award-winning Dia Doce Gourmet Cupcakes and high-quality Bridge Street Chocolates, aside local favorites Lavinia’s Cookies and Kilby Cream.

In between eating and sipping, many guests lounged on the rolling lawn and listened to live music while others shopped at various craft vendor tents and provisions/light fare sellers’ tents. One of the favorites was the Righteous Felon Jerky Cartel table. The Victorious B.I.G. variety, flavorful beef jerky infused with Victory beer, was a definite choice for many to take home with them from the event.

To keep the crowds entertained even more, demonstrations throughout the day involved cooking, coffee making, candle/soap making and even beekeeping. Chef Jon Amann of Amani’s BYOB was on hand to perform a food demo for the crowd with step-by-step preparation tips.

The Brandywine Food and Wine Festival was a wonderful success. Guests left the event with new wines to try, including us—we just had to snag a take-home bottle of Black Walnut Winery’s Bank Barn Red. We were also intrigued by new favorite restaurants we can’t wait to revisit. A fun day overall!
